Executive Officers
Javier Gonzalez, Pharm.D, President and Chief Operating Officer
Dr. Javier Gonzalez is President and Chief Operating Officer for HospiScript Services, LLC. A versatile and unique PBM Professional with expertise and extensive pharmacy managed market and benefit experience in Hospice, Clinical Services, Marketing, Sales, Business Development and Operations. Beyond his energy, passion and extensive background in pharmacy and managed benefits, Javier brings over 15 years experience, primarily in the pharmacy sector of managed care and hospice markets, to the position. Prior to joining HospiScript, Javier's past experience included consulting for large managed care organizations - including WellCare and Humana - and leadership positions at various pharmacy benefit management companies including President of ProCare Rx where he successfully led the development of a hospice line of business. Since joining HospiScript, his work to implement enhancements to increase proactive client services, pharmacy network relations, business intelligence solutions and enhancements in our pharmacy claims/information systems, has had a measurable impact on the overall hospice client user experiences and growth of the HospiScript Services business. He understands the complex components of the hospice pharmacy benefit management market space, currently managing over 34,000 member lives in 48 states. Dr. Gonzalez brings a unique perspective to incorporate and ensure patients are able to receive safe, efficient, effective, and cost-effective pharmaceutical therapies.
Dr. Gonzalez is a regular presenter at local and national hospice and managed care symposiums, has contributed on Medicare and drug class reviews for peer reviewed journals such as the American Journal of Managed Care (JMCP) and Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T), has been a lead investigator in numerous FDA phase IV clinical studies, and has worked as a lead investigator with Duke University and the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research for a large national Anticoagulation Clinic Initiative. He received his Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy with highest honors from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida.
Jason M. Kimbrel, R.Ph, Pharm.D, BCPS, Vice President of Clinical Operations
Dr. Jason Kimbrel is Vice President of Clinical Operations for HospiScript Services, LLC. He graduated with his Doctorate in Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University and completed his American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Pharmacy Practice and Patient/Medication Safety Residency with OhioHealth in Columbus, Ohio. While at OhioHealth, he contributed to practices that won the first ever ASHP Award for Excellence in Medication-Use Safety, as well as, the 2004 Best Practices Award in Health-System Pharmacy. Jason has experience working in the ambulatory care, general inpatient, and hospice and palliative care settings directly with nurses, physicians and patients.
Dr. Kimbrel is a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), the Midwest Care Alliance (formerly OHPCO), and multiple pharmacy organizations including the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University College of Pharmacy, residency site coordinator and primary preceptor for pharmacy students completing their Pharm.D from Ohio Northern University and Ohio State University.
John P. Redden, R.Ph., Pharm.D., CGP, Vice President of Clinical Program Development
Dr. John Redden received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Auburn University and his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Florida. He joined HospiScript as Vice President of Clinical & Professional Services in 2004 and currently serves as Vice President of Clinical Program Development. He has had experience in retail, hospital, institutional, long term care, and hospice practice settings and is a licensed pharmacist in Alabama. John is recognized by the Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy as a Certified Geriatric Pharmacist and has had extensive experience as a consultant pharmacist in the long term care setting where he consulted for both long term care and hospice patients. In 2005, he completed a preceptorship with Dr. David Weissman at the Palliative Care Center, Medical College of Wisconsin, one of the six Palliative Care Learning Centers in the United States.
Dr. Redden is a member of the Alabama Pharmacy Association, the American Society of Consultant Pharmacist, and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. He has authored poster presentations at the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists meetings.
He previously served as the Director of Clinical and Consulting Services for Omnicare in Alabama and Mississippi, which serves approximately 12,000 nursing home and assisted living residents. He also served on Omnicare’s Professional Services Committee.
